Our mission The vision of Nomadic Frontiers is an ever evolving one. Like the nomadic community itself, we strive to be mobile, adaptable and flexible. As we meet new challenges and needs within the nomadic community, we work with community members to help our nomadic friends meet those challenges and overcome obstacles to their lives and traditions. Ultimately, our goal is to provide the type of services and assistance to the nomadic community that will help them better their own lot in the world.

Mission Statement

The mission of Nomadic Frontiers is to provide services and assistance to rural herding nomadic families and communities in Mongolia and Central Asia. Nomadic Frontiers works to provide assistance that will help nomadic people better their own lot in the world, avoiding assistance and aid practices that would create artificial dependencies, that result in the nomadic community leaning on outsiders to achieve goals that they should be achieving within their own community.

Nomadic Frontiers works to join hand-in-hand with these people to help them be better equipped to face the new challenges that life in this world present to a people whose lifestyle has changed little over millennia. We work to help them to live in a self-sufficient and productive way that will make the nomadic tradition a viable alternative throughout the twenty-first century.

Our activities include but are not limited to:

  • providing educational services for nomadic families whose children cannot attend regular public schools;
  • providing community services such as medical attention and training on modern animal husbandry techniques;
  • social services such as alchohol recovery programs and adult literacy education;
  • providing monitored re-stocking services to families who have lost stock due to natural disasters or circumstances beyond their control.
